Cambodia Imposes a Comprehensive Ban on Energy Drinks in Schools and Surrounding Areas to Protect St

The Ministry of Education has recently issued a ban prohibiting the sale of energy drinks in schools and their surrounding areas to protect student health. The ban also prohibits any form of advertising or promotion of these beverages.

According to reports, this measure was swiftly implemented following concerns raised by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet about the health risks associated with energy drinks on the 10th of this month.

According to this ban, the consumption, sale, display, and promotion of energy drinks are prohibited within school premises and surrounding areas, with enhanced supervision required around schools. Additionally, schools are instructed to strengthen food safety and health education to increase awareness among teachers and students about the dangers of energy drinks.

Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted that energy drinks pose a serious threat to the health of young people and can lead to various health issues. He directed the Ministry of Education to work jointly with the Ministry of Health to strengthen oversight and prohibit the sale and consumption of energy drinks both inside and outside school grounds.

The Ministry of Education stated that while several relevant policies had been issued previously, enforcement was insufficient in some schools. This new directive aims to ensure strict implementation across all schools to completely eliminate the potential health risks posed by energy drinks to students.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that schools must collaborate closely with relevant agencies to create a healthy and safe learning environment for students.
